In Hawaii we are constantly being captured and surrounded by sea life and all the beauty and forms that we find underwater or by walking along the shore. There is a whole new world underwater, bold and unique. Usually gentle and delicate in appearance while also being vibrant in color.
As Interior designers we are regularly integrating these elements in shape and form to our designs. The underwater world is rich in textures and perfect in composition which inspires our creations. Nature has a perfect and timeless way to express beauty that inspires us.
Artist Mariko Kusumoto has expressed this underwater creation in excellence using translucent fabrics as her inspiration. She describes the qualities of these fabrics as gentle in texture, soft and atmospheric which translates her creations into the most realistic aesthetic of sea life creatures. Her most recent work is in collaboration with Tiffany “Underwater flora & fauna” summer window 2023
